Developed by the Barcelona Open Data Initiative and Dones en Xarxa, the 'Equal' project focuses on how social networks influence the ideas, thoughts, attitudes and behaviours of boys and girls towards equality. Under the slogan '#lessviolence, #moreequality', the 'Equal' project analyses messages on social networks to detect these practices, while also promoting actions that help combat sexist violence and foster a feminist perspective among boys and girls. The 'Equal' project mainly focuses on the social network Instagram, where it works to counteract its capacity to become a speaker for sexist messages and increase its role as a promoter of egalitarian values. Therefore, the Barcelona Open Data Initiative and Dones en Xarxa have created a bot, an artificial intelligence algorithm trained with real data, that studies messages on social networks and classifies them into three categories: sexist, neutral and feminist. In this sense, and within the framework of the 'Equal' project, more than 1,000 social publications have been analyzed from an expert perspective on gender equality. Ultimately, the 'Equal' project seeks to respond to the need to develop technological tools that make social networks fairer spaces.
